PhD opportunities: introduction

The MMC currently has about 25 PhD students in training; at any one time there will also be a number of Masters’ and Honours level students carrying out projects in the building. Our PhD students are predominantly funded by MRC, the Wellcome Trust and College scholarships

Our general principle is that applications are made to the MMC centrally. We then choose the best, most able and enthusiastic students and they select from the list of available PhD projects. Applications for 2012 will open in November/December 2011 and you will be able to see the projects on offer on this page and by searching www.findaphd.com.

Students with their own sources of funding are welcome to apply at any time; initial applications for self-funded students should be made to the relevant supervisor, who will then consult the PG Convenor. We are also involved in recruiting PhD students to the Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine; more details can be found on the IGMM site.

The University of Edinburgh is a charitable body, registered in Scotland, with registration number SC005336.
